OMS afirma estar monitorando possíveis novas mutações do coronavírus
A líder técnica da resposta à pandemia de Covid-19 da Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS), Maria Van Kerkhove, afirmou nesta quarta-feira (9) que o órgão continua monitorando possíveis novas mutações do coronavírus. Segundo ela, a OMS está de olho na combinação entre as variantes Ômicron e Delta.
"Foi detectada em alguns países, mas continua em níveis baixos de transmissão. Não vimos mudanças em termos epidemiológicos e de severidade ainda, mas estudos ainda vão sair", destacou, durante entrevista coletiva. Kerkhove destacou que a pandemia continua. "Muitos países estão enfrentando desafios agora. Infelizmente, esse vírus tem e terá oportunidades de continuar se espalhando", disse.
Ucrânia
Na coletiva, mais cedo, o diretor-geral da OMS, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus afirmou que mais suprimentos médicos serão enviados à Ucrânia nesta quarta, sendo que o foco está nas áreas mais afetadas pela guerra. "Temos 400 metros cúbicos de suprimentos esperando para serem transportados para a Ucrânia do nosso centro de logística em Dubai", disse.
