Rússia abandona negociações de paz com Japão por causa da Ucrânia
A Rússia anunciou nesta segunda-feira o abandono das negociações de paz com o Japão, mantidas desde o fim da Segunda Guerra Mundial por uma disputa territorial, mencionando como justificativa a "posição hostil" de Tóquio sobre o conflito na Ucrânia. "A Rússia não pretende, nas atuais circunstâncias, continuar as negociações com o Japão sobre um tratado de paz", disse o Ministério russo das Relações Exteriores, em um comunicado.
A Chancelaria considerou que é "impossível falar da assinatura de um documento fundamental sobre as relações bilaterais com um Estado que tem uma posição abertamente hostil e procura prejudicar os interesses" da Rússia.
Japão e Rússia mantêm relações complexas há décadas. Depois da Segunda Guerra Mundial, não assinaram um tratado de paz, devido a uma disputa por quatro pequenas ilhas no arquipélago das Curilas. Estas ilhas foram ocupadas pelo Exército soviético nos últimos dias do conflito e, desde então, não foram devolvidas ao Japão, que as chama de "Territórios do Norte". Houve tentativas de negociação desde a queda da então União Soviética, mas sem sucesso.
Nas últimas semanas, o Japão se somou aos países ocidentais na imposição de duras sanções econômicas a Moscou por sua ofensiva na Ucrânia deflagrada em 24 de fevereiro.
