O tempo finalmente muda e o calor deve diminuir nas próximas horas na Região Sul em decorrência do avanço de uma frente fria que deve provocar temporais sobre diversas regiões. Já há alerta do Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia (INMET) para o Rio Grande do Sul, e requer atenção, pois o ar está quente com temperatura alta em diversas áreas. Com o "choque" do ar quente com o ar frio, núcleos com desenvolvimento vertical devem se formar e causar chuva forte com descargas elétricas (raios), ventania e queda de granizo amanha dia 03/01.
