A PRF apreendeu uma carga de aproximadamente 13 mil maços de cigarro contrabandeado do Paraguai na noite desta quinta-feira (10), em Nonoai/RS.
A equipe da PRF recebeu informação que um veículo estaria vindo da região da fronteira com o Paraguai carregado com cigarros contrabandeados. Os policiais deslocaram até a divisa com Santa Catarina e localizaram um automóvel GM Vectra, com placas de Nonoai, que possuía as mesmas características do veículo suspeito.
Ao avistar a viatura da PRF, o condutor do automóvel retornou e fugiu em alta velocidade em direção a Santa Catarina. Durante a fuga, o motorista acessou uma estrada de terra, perdeu o controle do veículo e saiu de pista. O motorista fugiu à pé e não foi localizado. O banco traseiro e o porta-malas estavam carregados com cigarros contrabandeados.
O veículo e a carga, que tem valor estimado de 65 mil reais, foram apreendidos e encaminhados para a Receita Federal.
