O estudante de psicologia Matheus Lessa, de 22 anos, morreu ao tentar proteger a mãe de um assalto, na noite desta terça-feira, em Barra de Guaratiba, na Zona Oeste do Rio. Segundo o Bom Dia Rio, da TV Globo, dois homens armados entraram no mercadinho que pertence à família e anunciaram o crime. Após roubar todo o dinheiro do caixa, eles atiraram.
O assalto aconteceu por volta das 19h30m, na Rua Francisco Furtado. Ainda de acordo com o telejornal, os criminosos entraram no estabelecimento e exigiram dinheiro. A mãe do estudante, que estava no caixa, entregou tudo o que tinha e, ao dizer que não havia mais nada, foi ameaçada pelos assaltantes. Matheus foi baleado ao entrar na frente da mãe para protegê-la. Ele foi atingido por dois tiros — um na mão e outro no pescoço — e não resistiu aos ferimentos.
Após o crime, os bandidos conseguiram fugir num carro azul. Segundo a polícia, eles ainda não foram localizados. Matheus chegou a ser socorrido por familiares, mas morreu a caminho do hospital.
